The Joseph Stalin Museum in Gori explores the life and historical legacy of the Soviet leader, who was born in the city. The museum complex includes the house where he was born, an exhibition building, and his personal railway carriage. Its collections contain tens of thousands of historical objects, photographs, documents and personal belongings, while a separate section addresses the period of Soviet repression.

Consider an English-language guided tour, as much of the permanent exhibition is presented in Georgian and Russian.

The memorial house where Stalin was born was turned into a museum as early as 1937, during his lifetime.
