Madatapa Lake

Near the Armenian border in Ninotsminda Municipality, Madatapa Lake is one of Javakheti’s most significant wetland habitats. The shallow lake supports large numbers of waterbirds and is especially known for the endangered Dalmatian pelican. During the warmer months, migratory and nesting birds make the area particularly interesting for wildlife enthusiasts. Its open landscape also offers excellent opportunities for nature photography and quiet observation.
