Located on Shavteli Street in Tbilisi’s Old Town, Rezo Gabriadze Puppet Theater was founded in 1981 by renowned Georgian artist and director Rezo Gabriadze. The theater is celebrated for its handcrafted puppet performances, distinctive architecture, and unique artistic atmosphere.
Its iconic Clock Tower, created by Gabriadze, has become one of Tbilisi’s most recognizable landmarks. Every hour, an angel appears from a small painted door and rings a bell. Twice a day, at 12:00 and 19:00, visitors can watch the puppet show The Circle of Life.
The theater has performed internationally and participated in numerous festivals, making it an important part of Georgia’s contemporary cultural scene. The historic Anchiskhati Basilica is located just nearby, making it easy to combine both landmarks in one visit.
