The journey is the destination when you drive over the Gombori Pass. This winding mountain road connects Tbilisi directly with Telavi, offering a dramatic and scenic alternative to the main highway. As you ascend, the landscape transforms from rolling hills into dense, leafy forests. At the summit, around 1,620 meters, you’ll find viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramas of the Iori plateau on one side and the Alazani Valley on the other. In autumn, the pass is a riot of colour, with the forests turning brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and red.
