Chaukhi Massif

The Chaukhi Massif rises above Juta like a giant natural fortress. Its sharp rocky peaks and vertical faces are surrounded by alpine meadows, creating an extraordinary contrast between green valleys and rugged stone.

The massif is one of the region’s favourite destinations for hikers, mountaineers and rock climbers, and is one of the defining landscapes of Kazbegi National Park.

On clear days, the peaks look particularly impressive from the Juta Valley, while longer hiking routes take you deeper into the surrounding mountains.

The dramatic shape of the Chaukhi peaks has earned them comparisons with the Dolomites.

Hike from Juta toward Chaukhi or continue on longer mountain routes toward the Abudelauri Lakes.
