Gelati Monastery

Founded in 1106 by King David IV, also known as David the Builder, Gelati Monastery is one of the most important religious and cultural sites in Georgia. For centuries it served as a center of education, science, and philosophy, earning the nickname "the Second Jerusalem" among medieval scholars.
