City Guide
Just a short drive from Kutaisi, Sataplia Nature Reserve offers one of the most unique experiences in Georgia. This protected area combines ancient history with extraordinary natural beauty, making it perfect for families, nature lovers, and curious travelers.
The reserve is famous for its well-preserved dinosaur footprints, discovered nearly a century ago and believed to date back around 120 million years.
Beyond the footprints, visitors can explore a beautiful limestone cave filled with sparkling stalactites and stalagmites before wandering through peaceful forest trails surrounded by rare Colchic vegetation.
The name "Sataplia" means "place of honey," named after the wild bees that once nested throughout the area. Today, it's best known for preserving some of Georgia's most famous dinosaur footprints.
